Or I know how to try to party, anyway. I include that disclaimer in case we hang out and I pass out after two glasses of wine; it’s been known to happen.
When I’m really geared up for it though, I can party hard. All the energy and chaos in my life can be funneled into one manic obsession: one night of awesome entertaining.
It usually only happens once or twice a year.
Since I don’t have room to stock a full bar, I like to serve wine, beer, and one special drink. This recipe for Bourbon Slush is cheerful, warm and timeless. It’s perfect for a fall or winter party.
Bourbon Slush
Brew 2 family-sized tea bags in 9 cups of very hot water. Melt 1 to 2 cups of sugar in the brewing hot tea. When cool enough, transfer to a freezer-safe container. Add a 12 ounce can of frozen orange juice AND a 12 ounce can of frozen lemonade. Add 1 to 2.5 cups of good bourbon.
Freeze for at least 2 nights because alcohol takes longer to freeze than water.
Serve slushy in lowball glasses. You can add Sprite or sparkling water to each glass to help break the mixture into slush.
I make mine with a bit less sugar and more bourbon. ♥ Garnish with orange slices.
Enjoy!
